US to host G20 world summit over crisis

The US is to host a summit of world leaders to discuss the financial crisis and reshaping the global economic system next month, 11 days after its presidential election.

The news came as European currencies slumped against the dollar and yen as traders bet the European Central Bank and the Bank of England would slash interest rates within weeks to offset a looming recession.
