S Korean government fighting won rise

South Korea has “unlimited resources” to limit the won’s rise against the US dollar, a senior finance ministry official said Friday.

The Korean won has risen almost 10 per cent this year – making it the second-best performing currency in Asia after the Thai baht – but efforts to dissuade investors from betting on the won’s continued ascent have not had much impact.
