NYSE Euronext, the transatlantic exchange group, on Friday made its biggest investment so far in a foreign exchange, agreeing to pay $200m for a 20 per cent stake in the Doha Securities Market in the Gulf emirate of Qatar.

The move comes 12 months after the US-based group signed an initial agreement to take a 25 per cent stake in the Doha bourse for $250m.
