American policy must be moral and muscular

The Bush administration has become famous for unilateralist policies that alienate America's allies. Yet the Democratic party, too, has lost its way on foreign policy, unable to get its arms around America's enormous power.

If John Kerry wins November's election, his administration should seek to preserve and improve the current unipolar order with hard-nosed policies that are multilateral, promote the interests of many nations and advance Democratic values. "Real Democratik" stands the best chance of bringing stability to the post-9/11 world and repairing the damage caused by the policy failures of the Bush era.
