Kent signs record school deal

Kent County Council has signed a £600m deal to rebuild and refurbish 10 schools - the biggest agreement yet reached under Whitehall's ambitious Building Schools for the Future programme. The deal will create jobs during an extremely tough time for the construction industry. However, the Department for Children, Schools and Families has dismissed the idea that it can accelerate BSF projects to provide a counterweight to downturns in the construction sector.
