Galliford Try unveils £125m rights issue

The improving confidence of Britain’s housebuilders was illustrated on Thursday as Galliford Try announced a £125m rights issue to buy land and Redrow said it had recommenced building houses.

The moves add to signs of confidence that the hard-hit UK housing market is stabilising, with the UK’s largest builders raising money in recent months to acquire land for development. Last week Bovis joined Bellway and Berkeley in tapping markets for cash.
