There are complications in working in small island economies, but Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications company, has found there can be great rewards as well.
Its fairly modest investment in purchasing Guernsey Telecom, the state-owned monopoly, in 2002 has grown into a £40m ($83m) investment in all three of the British Isles’ fast-growing offshore finance centres – Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
