Dow upbeat on Asian growth

Dow Chemical, the largest US chemicals group, said on Thursday the worst of the US downturn was over and Asia was showing signs of strong growth, fuelling bullish sentiment on the global economy.

“The economic outlook for the rest of 2009 appears to be stabilising with strong growth in Asia-Pacific, especially China, where domestic stimulus programmes have created demand,” Andrew Liveris, chief executive, said.
