US rival ‘will supplement’ Libor

Angela Knight, chief executive of the British Bankers’ Association, on Thursday brushed off suggestions that a measure of US bank rates being set up by Icap, the interdealer broker, could displace the London interbank rate as a global benchmark for borrowing costs.

Ms Knight told the Financial Times she was not concerned about Icap’s initiative and Libor still had the support and commitment of the banking community.
