Most new EU citizens unaware of euro shift

Most citizens in the European Union's 10 new member states do not know their country is obliged to adopt the euro, and a majority of those that do know are unhappy about it.

Apart from widespread ignorance and antipathy, a shortage of cash machines in eastern Europe could complicate the launch of the euro, the European Commission warned yesterday.
