OECD calls on Ireland to curb deficit

Ireland must cut the numbers employed in the public sector to bring its budget deficit under control, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The comments in its annual report on Ireland come as Brian Cowen’s centre-right government seeks the agreement of trade unions to wide spending cuts before next month’s critical budget.
