Fifa, the world governing body of football, on Tuesday confirmed Brazil as host for the 2014 World Cup in a packed ceremony at the organisation’s Zurich headquarters.
Brazil was the only candidate to host the competition which under Fifa’s rotation system was due to take place in South America.
