President George W. Bush’s political problems have deepened, as questions about his leadership at home and abroad have reduced his public support and intensified Republican worries about November’s mid-term elections.
A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll out on Thursday found Mr Bush’s approval rating at 38 per cent, just one point above the record low of 37 per cent it hit in November, when public dissatisfaction with his administration’s handling of Hurricane Katrina was at its peak.
