Cost of Christmas lunch rises 14%

If children complain about how few presents they receive, it could be because their parents have blown the household budget on the family Christmas lunch.

As the prices of basic foods such as meat, milk and bread continue to soar, so too does the price of the Christmas meal. The industry-backed British Retail Consortium forecasts the average Christmas lunch cost will rise this season by 14 per cent.
