Deal for Standard would reflect shift in DMGT strategy

The imposing clock above the front entrance to Northcliffe House in central London, the headquarters of Daily Mail & General Trust, bears the words "Evening Standard".

A relic of the days when DMGT had its headquarters in Fleet Street, the clock will not be moving if the group signs a deal with Alexander Lebedev, a Russian oligarch, to sell him the Standard for £1.
