The European Union on Thursday confirmed that it would join a summit in Moscow at the weekend aimed at resolving the gas dispute between Russia and Ukraine.

Andris Piebalgs, the EU energy commissioner and the Czech energy minister Martin Riman, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, are expected to attend the talks on Saturday.
