Yukos chairman eyes Russian presidency

A former Soviet and Russian central bank chief now serving as chairman of the bankrupt Yukos oil corporation is considering making a bid for the Russian presidency at a general election next March.

Viktor Gerashchenko said he was prepared to stand at the presidential election as “a single representative of opposition parties and movements”.
