Postal union leaders have announced all-out strikes for next Friday and Monday even though peace talks with Royal Mail are planned to continue in the week leading up to the planned stoppages.

The move by the Communication Workers Union appeared aimed at intensifying pressure on the state-owned operator as the two sides edge towards a possible solution of their dispute over jobs, pay and working practices.
