EU internal market chief fuels debate over accounts rules

Charlie McCreevy, the European Union internal market commissioner, has waded into the debate over controversial new international accounting standards, by questioning the political accountability of the body in charge of drafting the new rules.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Mr McCreevy signalled he would seek ways of simplifying procedures together with the International Accounting Standards Board.
