Motorola falls 19% on loss warning

Motorola, the struggling US mobile phone maker, saw its shares plunge almost 19 per cent yesterday, after it warned it would slip to a loss in the current quarter and reported an 84 per cent drop in fourth-quarter profits.

Profits were $100m on revenues down 18 per cent at $9.65bn, reflecting slippage in market share amid tough competition.
