A five-day shoot-out in Kashmir has raised fears in India that the Pakistan-based militants responsible for the Mumbai attacks are on the offensive again in spite of an international effort to close down their operations.
Indian officials say an infiltration of insurgents across the Line of Control, which divides the disputed territory of Kashmir, only four months after the strike on Mumbai shows Pakistan has done little to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure within the country.
