Senior Tories angry at Howard's campaign tactics

Michael Howard is facing an angry backlash from senior Conservatives for fighting a narrowly focused election campaign that has failed to broaden his party's appeal.

Prominent Tories have said they expect Mr Howard to resign quickly as leader if, as the opinion polls suggest, the party fails to recover much ground from Labour on Thursday.
