Demand tepid for UK issue

A UK bond auction struggled to attract investors on Thursday amid further signs of strains in the gilts market because of the record amount of debt taken on by the government to revive the economy.

Weak demand for 30-year gilts followed last week’s government bond auction failure – the first in seven years – as the vast amount of bond supply weighs heavily on the market.
