S Korea shines light on shady practices

The hallowed traditions of South Korea's establishment are being jolted like seldom before. Golf, karaoke and receiving brown envelopes are these days being scrutinised in a way that gives many in positions of power cause for concern.

For decades corruption and other shady practices have been a well known secret in Korea, the legacy of a country that industrialised rapidly without making changes to its legal structure or the salaries it paid public officials at the same pace.
