Blair signals scrapping of Child Support Agency because of failings

The Child Support Agency should be scrapped in its current form, Tony Blair signalled yesterday when he conceded it was not suited to forcing absent parents to support their children.

Mr Blair told MPs it was "extremely difficult" to make the CSA cost-effective when it was responsible for investigating parental disputes, adjudicating on maintenance claims as well as enforcing payment.
