A wealthy businessman sought by US authorities on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion yesterday won an extradition battle at the City of Westminster magistrates' court.

The legal victory by Stanley Tollman is the most significant success to date by an individual accused of white collar crimes in the US but contesting extradition under the controversial new US-UK arrangements, which have so worried the business community.
