PZ Cussons reported a 10 per cent increase in full-year pre-tax profits to £84.4m as the maker of fridges and soaps benefited from economic growth in Nigeria and new brand launches in the UK.

Brandon Leigh, finance director, said the company’s geographical diversity – about one-third of operating profits come from Nigeria – helped it weather the financial crisis along with its innovation programme. It released 30 new UK products including a black walnut and sandalwood anti-perspirant under its Original Source hair and body wash brand.
