Hungary needs to put aside the politicsof conflict

As Hungary's crisis deepens, the reaction of the country's politicians shows how the politics of confrontation lead nowhere.

The admission by Ferenc Gyurcsany, prime minister, that he lied aboutthe country's economy prompted demonstrations in Budapest. Hungarian MEPs and the European People'sparty, the biggest group in the European parliament, have demanded his resignation.
