Washington frustrated by Pakistan's failure

Admiral Mike Mullen's trip to Islamabad this week marked his fifth visit to Pakistan since he became chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff a year ago.

The unusual frequency of his trips to Pakistan highlights US concern about extremists operating in the Pashtun-dominated tribal regions that straddle the border with Afghanistan.
