Deutsche Telekom staff representatives took a big step towards resolving a month-long strike by agreeing to restart talks with management about plans to cut the wages of 50,000 call centre and maintenance workers.
The rapprochement means chief executive René Obermann has a chance of reaching his goal to reduce the troubled group's staff costs by up to €900m ($1.19bn) over about two years - his first test since taking over in November.
