UK watchdog sharpens focus on bank bonuses

The structure and scale of bonuses for bankers will be considered by UK regulators when they assess exposure of banks to financial risk.

Hector Sants, chief executive of the Financial Services Authority, told an Investment Managers' Association dinner last night that the regulator would not dictate pay but would consider it when judging the risk faced by institutions. "We will do this with increasing intensity," he said.
