Doris Leuthard, the Swiss economy minister, called for a swift resolution of the UBS legal case brought by US tax authorities on Wednesday at the start of a trip to Washington.

Her visit is aimed at strengthening ties with the new American administration, in the light of tensions over banking secrecy and the upcoming UBS hearing in Miami. The Swiss bank is accused of helping American citizens evade US taxes.
