IMF wants more say for rising economies

The International Monetary Fund will ask finance ministers for a mandate at its spring meetings to plan a shake-up of its ownership structure to give rising economic powers such as China a greater stake in its operations.

Rodrigo Rato, IMF managing director, will seek to draw up a new set of voting rights that would boost the relative power of Asian countries at the likely expense of European countries.
