Girls-only private schools top grades

Girls at single-sex private schools are much more likely to earn top A-levels and GCSE marks than young women at co-ed independent schools, research by the prestigious Girls’ Schools Association reveals on Saturday.

The GSA research, given exclusively to the Financial Times, shows 57 per cent of girls’ A-level results at the association’s schools were A grades this year – compared with only 49 per cent at co-eds.
