Bipartisan rift hits economic stimulus plans

US Senate action on an economic stimulus package looked set to be delayed until Monday after Democrats said they did not yet have enough support from Republicans to bring it to a vote.

The development came as Henry Paulson, Treasury secretary, said the bill approved by the Senate finance committee was “already too complex”.
