There had been hopes that wiser counsel would prevail, but to no effect. Managements worldwide are, it seems, not taking the opportunity to fine tune their organisations in the current downturn by investing in information technology.
Indeed, the opposite seems to be the case. That ominous noise, like pips squeaking, is coming from IT departments as chief information officers begin to worry whether they have the wherewithal to continue to deliver a satisfactory service.
