The government of Slovenia, which takes over the European Union presidency at the end of the year, will seek a parliamentary confidence vote on Monday after the crushing defeat of its candidate in presidential elections.
Janez Jansa, the prime minister, filed the motion on Thursday saying that endless criticism from the opposition had impeded presidency preparations. Earlier he told the Financial Times: “The problem of this government is that we have been fighting now on two fronts ... I can’t be the same day both in Ljubljana and in Brussels.”
