Commuter switch drives Go-Ahead

Bus and rail operator Go-Ahead posted record profits as commuters abandoned their cars for cheaper public transport.

The company, responsible for nearly a third of all UK rail journeys, said on Friday that pre-tax profit rose 8.8 per cent to £103.1m as passenger numbers rose throughout the year.
