Aburly man in a black suit and a smile opens the door for visitors at the Jil Sander store on the Goethestrasse in Frankfurt. Inside, in the back, two saleswomen conspire in hushed voices while a visitor admires mirror ballerina shoes and a stunning bag to match.
This is the new Jil Sander, the one with more accessories and shoes available in more retail stores, but still with the same, thankfully, understated stylishness which has made Jil a favourite for the over-40 set for more than 30 years.
