London out of fashion as leading US buyers begin to feel the pinch

All the glitz, glamour and glossy models will be there when London Fashion Week opens this Sunday, but some of the biggest names in US retailing will not, thanks to "exorbitant" UK prices and financial gloom.

Buyers from department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys are planning to make Paris and Milan their European fashion destinations this season as the weak dollar and transatlantic economic worries make London less alluring.
