Call for creationism in the classroom

Teachers should be open to discussing creationism in biology lessons, according to one of Britain’s leading science educators in remarks that threaten to re-ignite controversy over religious fundamentalism in schools.

Michael Reiss, director of education at the Royal Society, Britain’s national academy of sciences, called on Thursday for a “gentler” and more accommodating approach to extreme religious attitudes in science lessons.
