Microsoft makes final pitch to EU over ruling

Microsoft made a final attempt on Tuesday night to persuade the European Commission that it is complying with the antitrust sanctions imposed on the US software group by the Brussels regulator last year.

The Commission, frustrated by months of haggling over the precise meaning of its landmark ruling against the group, had given Microsoft until midnight on Tuesday to abide by the ruling.
