Russian ex-agent ‘poisoning’ probed

Police in London are investigating the suspected poisoning of a former Russian security agent and vocal critic of the regime of Vladimir Putin, the Russian president.

Alexander Litvinenko, a former colonel in the Federal Security Service (FSB), successor to the KGB, was under guard in a London hospital on Sunday night, where his condition was described as “serious but stable”.
