Lufthansa issues optimistic forecast

Lufthansa, the German airline, raised its forecast for 2008 operating profit on Tuesday after a stronger than expected fourth quarter.

While its European rivals, Air France-KLM and British Airways, recently warned the last quarter of 2008 – and full-year performance – had been worse than expected, Lufthansa said its fourth quarter had proved to be comparatively good.
