Every neighbourhood deserves a Horoyoi.

Amid the babble of night-time Ebisu, in south-western Tokyo, among the bewildering array of restaurants duelling for customers, this diminutive semi-basement izakaya (pronounced roughly ee-ZAH-ka-ya), or Japanese bistro, has been a fixture in my life since the early 1990s.
