Adecco, the world’s biggest temporary staffing group, confirmed an unsolicited approach for Michael Page International, its smaller UK counterpart, in an apparently opportunistic effort to go further upmarket.

Adecco on Tuesday said talks were “at an early stage” and declined to comment further, while Michael Page played down hopes for a deal.
