Air France-KLM profits soar

Air France-KLM increased its profits strongly in the first half and forecast higher earnings for the full year supported by continuing strong demand for air travel in particular on long-haul routes.

The airline said on Thursday it was still considering possible takeover moves for both Alitalia, the heavily loss-making Italian flag carrier, and Spain’s Iberia, which is already the subject of possible acquisition approaches by two rival consortia including one led by TPG and British Airways .
