Darling wins case over failed Icelandic bank

Alistair Darling won a critical legal case on Tuesday over his use of emergency powers to seize assets of a failed Icelandic bank, in a blow to Iceland’s efforts to prove the UK chancellor acted without cause.

In a stinging judgment, the High Court dismissed the complaint brought by Kaupthing bank as having “an air of artificiality and unreality” to it.
