Call for shires to pay Crossrail tax

Ministers should consider extending beyond London taxes on businesses benefiting from the cross-London Crossrail scheme, Boris Johnson has suggested.

The London mayor on Monday put the idea in a letter to the Department for Transport after businesses in the capital complained companies outside greater London were bearing none of the cost of the scheme.
