Further reductions in defence spending as part of a strategic review could undermine Britain’s security and its influence in the world while damaging a key part of the economy, leading industry executives claimed on Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of the party conference season, members of the Defence Industries Council laid out their case for a sector that supports 300,000 jobs and generates £35bn in sales, but which is staring at substantial budget cuts as the Treasury looks to balance its books.
